Daily Campfires

Join us around the fire

Every day, we’re inviting people from around the world to gather online around an OpenCampfire, connecting through conversation, listening and reflection.

Whether you’d like to share, listen or simply be present, you’re welcome around our campfire.

What is an OpenCampfire?

An OpenCampfire is a welcoming online space where people come together to explore life’s experiences through curiosity, reflection and lived experience.

It’s the closest thing we’ve found to gathering around a real campfire online.

There is no pressure to speak, no expectation to have the answers or give advice, and no need to be an expert.

What happens?

A typical OpenCampfire lasts around an hour. It is hosted by a volunteer Firekeeper and attended by a diverse group of people, which may vary in size from one campfire to the next. Webcams are warmly encouraged but always optional.

A campfire usually includes:

  • A warm welcome
  • A simple introduction
  • Time for anyone who wishes to share
  • Reflections from others, if welcomed by the sharer
  • Closing words

Every campfire is a little different because every group is different. OpenCampfire provides a shared framework while leaving plenty of room for each Firekeeper and group to develop their own rhythm.

Do I have to speak?

No.

You’re welcome to share, reflect or simply be present.

Active listening is valuable participation.

When do we meet?

We’re currently preparing to launch our founding campfires:

šŸ”„ 30 Days Around the Campfire

Begins 1 September.

Come and help us light the first fire.

We’ll meet every day at 11:30am UK (GMT), which is approximately 6:30am New York (EST) and 10:30pm Sydney (AEST).

Always-lit Campfires

We’re beginning with daily campfires. As more people join and become Firekeepers, our hope is to create an online campfire that’s always there for those who need it.

One day, we hope there’ll always be a campfire waiting for you, accessible online from wherever you need it.

New to OpenCampfire?

Your first campfire might feel unfamiliar, and that’s completely okay. Most people arrive not knowing anyone, although you’re always welcome to invite a friend to join.

We’ll be introducing short training sessions for anyone who would like to learn more about SPARK, reflective listening, and Firekeeper training to help facilitate OpenCampfires.

There’s always room for one more around the campfire!
